Position Summary

Development of localized talent, within BG China, to support long-term business where inherent risks require the strategic development of niche skills.

Key Accountabilities

The Shipping Graduate currently has the opportunity to move through the following diverse roles within the Shipping organization:

• Oversee the commercial operation of LNG and Crude Oil deep sea vessels
• Assist in the terminal and port clearance of deep sea vessels prior to nomination, including compatibility studies 
• Assist in the resolution of terminal/vessel operational issues of the operational fleet
• Assist in terminal development project work, understudying appropriate Marine Advisors
• Undergo terminal operator training and understudy terminal operations staff during LNG cargo operations
• Support BG China AGM to gain a broad understanding of BG Group business and China contribution to the business plan
• Prepare presentation materials and papers for management
• Support enhancements to systems and process pertaining to terminal and/or vessel operations.

Key Program Accountabilities:
This program provides new hires higher level expectations and opportunities above the daily desk responsibilities. The goals of these accountabilities are to develop an individual both intellectually and professionally. The program accountabilities include: 
Creating and delivery of presentations on self-chosen business topics 
Career and professional development through self-chosen Director level mentors
Networking within the Global Energy Marketing & Shipping organization 
Active involvement in BG specific initiatives
 
These accountabilities are designed for a candidate to have the opportunity to develop and transform from a recent undergraduate into a well-rounded professional in the Global Shipping Business within BG Group.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attributes

Specialist Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes: 

Undergraduate degree in a related business discipline. Relevant work experience and/or summer internship will be an advantage. Experience in the following areas is beneficial but not mandatory:
• Junior officer merchant marine certificate of competency (STCW)
• Sailing experience onboard Oil and/or LNG/LPG vessels

An individual must be able to successfully manage and deliver several projects concurrently. Additionally, the individual must be confident and comfortable to interact and collaborate with all levels of leadership to seek guidance to ultimately perform desk and rotation program responsibilities at a high level.

As BG is an international company with global reach and impact, the program requires a global assignment to increase the individual’s skills, knowledge and diversity for the purposes of further enhancing leadership capabilities. This assignment preferably will be an international assignment overseas but may also be a local role that requires significant touch points into global BG operations.
