Production Engineering Manager
The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.
We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel.
QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors.

Position Summary
The position is to take overall responsibility for managing the technical interfaces within the design of the wells and gathering systems and interfaces to the water and gas processing facilities for QGC.
The position is also responsible for ensuring the technical integration and consistent technical Bases of Design and Operation & Maintenance Philosophies are in place and maintained by actively managing scope, lessons learned and responsibility boundaries.
The role is to ensure that a design solution is developed which will result in an improved operating environment while reducing risks and increasing business value.
Key Accountabilities
Position Specific• Ownership of the design basis for the QGC Well Completion to the FCS inlet header that captures the requirements of all internal and external project stakeholders.
• Optimisation of the design with respect to lifecycle cost, safety, operability, maintainability and constructability.
• Accountable for the technical integration of the engineering of all elements of the QGC Wells and Gathering systems and its system interfaces.
• Implementation of relevant National, International and BG Standards across the accountable scope
• Management of technical interface with Engineering Managers, Project Managers, Development Managers from reservoir, commercial and production operations groups to ensure consistent design, engineering and planning assumptions are captured and fully understood by all stakeholders.
• Assist in the assurance of readiness for commissioning, start up and operation and be the single point of accountability for placement of network isolations.
• Demonstration of the overall technical integrity of the Wells and Gathering System and Design. Owns the QGC Gathering Design Philosophy against which project deliverables must be assessed.
• Ensure lessons learned are captured and fed back within the Asset and BGA, for the benefit of future projects.
People Management• Mentor, lead and coach direct reports as well as the Production Engineering Graduates and their assignments
• Participate actively in career development of direct reports, and succession planning initiatives to build future expertise.
• Actively develop the QGC Production Engineering Functional Career Ladder and Competency Assurance Management System.
• The incumbent must adhere to the annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes
Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE)• Apply corporate and local Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and regulations on project activities
• Contribute to a robust culture of HSSE is driven down through the project organisation such that work by project personnel, suppliers, contractors and partners is undertaken in an appropriate, professional manner
• Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountabilities for HSSE, all managers are accountable for HSSE within their area of the Business and are responsible for ensuring that their team adopt exemplary HSSE behaviours
• All QGC employees must adhere to the Business Principles at all times under Conduct, Our People, Society and HSSE and to participate in relevant training
• Accountable for the ALARP demonstration of any gathering tie-ins including hot tops.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience
Production engineering professional with significant experience of executing conceptual, front-end and detailed process design based on personal hands-on production operations experience

• Experience of working in onshore unconventional gas production and associated facilities in a client/operator environment
• Experience in well, artificial lift, gathering systems, process and compression facilities and controls and automation systems design
• Verifiable performance and delivery in one or more positions of multi-disciplinary production operations and engineering management
• Experienced in the use of Integrated Asset Modelling as well as Reliability and Availability Modelling techniques to understand design outcomes and business value
• Competent in leading and interacting with multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Ability to interface across a wide range of disciplines including petroleum engineering, well engineering, production operations, as well as commercial and economics
• Competent to guide, mentor and inspire other team members
• Knowledgeable in the scope and application of technical assurance processes
• Has a detailed understanding of the relevant regulations and standards
Systems• Extensive knowledge of BG Policies, Standards and Guidelines specifically the Production Operations, Petroleum Engineering, Developments and Well Engineering as well as the BG Way and Operate Program
• QGC Operations & Maintenance Philosophy
• A deep understanding of the Production Excellence Standards and Guidelines.
• Extensive knowledge of well, gathering and plant structure, their operation and constraints
• Knowledge of metering, product quality and hydrocarbon accounting
• Knowledge of pipeline and ponds structure
• Knowledge of pipeline operations and pigging methodology
• Expert in flow assurance, production chemistry and hydraulic modelling
• Educated to first degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline
• Chartered Member of a relevant engineering institution (preferred)
• A person who has the drive and energy to deliver the Production Engineering capability vision
• Extensive experience of working in large project environments
• Proven experience with the development and operation of unconventional resource plays across extensive geographic regions
• Broad knowledge of all engineering disciplines
• Able to demonstrate the ability to manage interfaces and work closely alongside project and production operations teams during FEED, detailed design, construction as well as the operations phase
• Strong and effective communication skills, supported by interpersonal skills that allow working at a senior level. Ability to effectively influence at all levels both internally and externally
• Ability to challenge others in a constructive manner and negotiate with internal peers and partner’s representatives to influence decisions or ways of working
