The role

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Construction Engineer based in the Mackay / Whitsunday's region to co-ordinate and manage the construction phase of land development and infrastructure projects .

The role will initially be on a casual basis up to 25- 30 hours per week. You will be a well organised person who can work with limited direction. You will be familiar with civil construction contracts, local construction standards and dealing professionally with contractors and clients alike.

You will be required to attend job sites in Townsville, Whitsundays and Mackay wherever new land development projects occur. As the role is largely a sole charge position you will also need to be flexible in helping other teams in our business.

We propose to further build our urban business in the area, by offering clients a local contact who can respond quickly to issues with the support of our Urban team. There will also be opportunities to undertake business development in conjunction with our management team.

Smec will offer a competitive hourly rate for the right candidate including a suitable vehicle, laptop and mobile phone. We will arrange an office space and regular management support. We will involve you in regular company meetings and there will be opportunities to attend industry functions.  

 The following relevant experience will be considered favourable:

• Experienced in urban land development projects and municipal works
• Civil construction and or Consulting engineering (civil)  background
• Blue/White card for construction inspections
• Qualifications recognised by the Institution of Engineers Australia.
