Team Leader, Indonesia Forests Team, Jakarta, Indonesia
Overview
The World Resources Institute is seeking a full time team leader to lead its Indonesia forests work, based in Jakarta. Work includes scaling up the POTICO initiative, Global Forest Watch 2.0 and an emerging forest landscapes restoration effort. The team leader will be responsible for leading collaboration with the Indonesian Government, major companies, civil society and liaison with funders and WRI's forests team and management team in Washington DC. This position requires native fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and extensive experience working with senior Indonesian policymakers and is open only to those with existing work authorization in Indonesia.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead WRI's forests team in Indonesia;
- Build strategic partnerships with government agencies, companies and civil society;
- Represent WRI's forests team at a high level in workshops, meetings and other events;
- Identify and advance new lines of research and analysis relevant to the WRI forests strategy and responding to Indonesia's development priorities;
- Produce, review, and edit research reports, communications materials, and other written outputs to ensure they meet WRI's high standard of quality;
- Support fundraising activities;
- Support WRI's institutional establishment in Indonesia.
Qualifications
- Graduate degree in a relevant discipline;
- 10+ years of experience working in Indonesia, including at least 5 years in a management or team leadership role;
- Interest in or experience with environmental issues, especially forest issues;
- Great analytical and strategic thinking skills;
- Experience designing and implementing research or analyses for governmental and corporate audiences;
- Ability to write in an organized, clear, and articulate manner in Bahasa Indonesia and in English;
- Ability to communicate clearly and compellingly to a wide range of audiences and especially the private sector;
- Results focused, with a strong team orientation, and the ability to work well under pressure;
- Commitment to WRI's mission and institutional values.
