UP Education Network is a nonprofit school management organization whose mission is to rapidly transform chronically underperforming district schools into extraordinary schools that sustain high achievement over time. Our turnaround schools ensure that students acquire the knowledge, skills, and strength of character necessary to succeed on the path to college and to achieve their full potential. UP Education Network currently operates four schools, UP Academy Charter School of Boston (grades 6-8), UP Academy Leonard Middle School (grades 6-8), UP Academy Charter School of Dorchester (grades K1-5), and UP Academy Oliver (grade 6). Across our network, we will serve more than 2500 students in Boston and Lawrence in fall 2014.
Role: UP Education Network's Manager of School Operations will directly support the organization's network of schools by completing various projects related to district and state regulations, general school operations, compliance, best practice documentation, risk management, and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast paced environment, can manage many competing priorities and constituents, and can work efficiently under deadlines. The Manager of School Operations will report to the Director of School Operations (DSO). This individual will be expected to work out of the network schools approximately 70-80% of the week, likely shadowing the DSO.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and improve administrative systems and routines;
  • Support the DSOs executive-level activities, including but not limited to preparation of materials to be presented to key external stakeholders;
    • Serve as direct contact and disseminate key information with school's Directors of Operations (DOOs) on specific instances as determined by DSO;
    • Prepare materials for monthly DOO meetings and professional development sessions;
    • Document and track best practices in school operations across the network;
    • Consolidate and maintain lists of all state and district requirements for use year-over-year;
    • Execute school-wide projects related to operations, community relations, and strategic planning;
    • Execute the data gathering, documenting, and planning of organization-wide strategic initiatives;
    • Support the DSO in crisis management situations;
    • Support the execution of systems across the schools;
    • Support school launch in summer 2014 and beyond;
    • Assist DSO in maintaining and updating Network Guides;
    • Support UP Education Network's student recruitment activities, including but not limited to updating databases, executing mailings, communicating with students and families, and developing appropriate materials; and
      • Perform other duties related to this job description as required by the DSO.

  • Current authorization to work in the United States – A candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.
