Principal / Senior Consultant

OPM are looking to recruit an experienced Principal / Senior Consultant with expertise in Qualitative Methods to provide commercial and financial assistance to the Research Methods Portfolio
The main areas of delivery for this role are:
  • Work with colleagues across OPM in the identification, development and application of good practice in qualitative and mixed-methods research techniques applied to a range of policy questions
  • As part of a larger team, lead research, evaluation and policy development processes making use of these techniques across a wide range of sectors
  • Support the use of qualitative information and approaches in the communication of results and in promoting change
  • Strengthen the understanding and capacity of colleagues in these areas and support them in winning and managing projects which draw on these approaches
  • Maintain and develop OPM’s intellectual capital, profile and networks in qualitative and mixed methods of analysis
  • Support / line management to a more junior consultant specialising in the same
The successful candidate will have the following:
  • A degree and post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • An established reputation and international standing in qualitative / mixed-methods research or related activities (such as evaluation), including relevant publications.
  • Strong analytical skills and extensive knowledge and several years of experience of a range of qualitative and participatory approaches
  • Experience in the use of mixed methods, ideally across a number of sectors
  • Experience in communicating qualitative methods and results to a range of audiences
  • Experience of working with senior officials from government or international agencies and an understanding of the operation of developing country governments and development programmes
  • The ability to work with multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams in challenging environments.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, both verbally and in writing.
  • Preferably, the ability to work in at least one relevant foreign language.
