Human Rights Watch ("HRW") is seeking highly-qualified applicants for the position of Annual Dinner Consultant in Geneva.

Description: The Consultant will coordinate the 2011 Geneva Annual Dinner in Geneva and provide professional event production services, including but not limited to:

(1) working with Human Rights Watch staff to adhere to the agreed budget and timeline;

(2) participating in periodic meetings with HRW staff and other stakeholders;

(3) monitoring, evaluating and trouble-shooting systems (for following up with invitees, donors, staff and complimentary ticketholders; acknowledging donors; tracking RSVPs; and creating accurate check-in lists);

(4) liaising with the venue staff to ensure the smooth running of the event;

(5) liaising with caterer(s) to ensure the smooth running of the event;

(6) hiring and overseeing a production company to manage the Annual Dinner technical program;

(7) selecting, negotiating, appointing and supervising vendors as needed;

(8) arranging and leading production meetings;

(9) managing all technical pre-production and logistics, including deliveries and onsite schedules;

(10) determining the need, if any, to hire additional event staff; and

(11) overseeing on-site production on the day of the event.

A July 18, 2011 start date is anticipated through to November 30, 2011.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, extremely well-organized, collegial, able to function under pressure and handle numerous tasks simultaneously. S/he must be able to take initiative, prioritize with minimal supervision, and work independently. An undergraduate degree as well as relevant work experience is highly desirable. Strong oral and written language skills in both English and French are required. Applicants for this position must have the ability to legally work in Switzerland.
