Research Officer (UK Medical Careers Research Group)

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH, Unit of Health Care Epidemiology (UHCE)

Grade 7: Salary £29,099 - £35,788 p.a.

The UHCE undertakes a range of epidemiological and health services research projects. The Medical Careers Research Group (MCRG), within the UHCE, undertakes large scale national longitudinal questionnaire-based studies of doctors’ careers. The MCRG is funded by the Department of Health.

In the MCRG we are looking for a researcher to analyse existing data using established computing and statistical methods, notably using SPSS, and to write and co-write reports and papers for publication in peer reviewed journals.

Educated to degree level (or equivalent qualification), you will need a solid knowledge of data analysis, statistical testing and inference applied to practical data sets, and a high level of experience of, and expertise in, using the SPSS package, ideally for multivariate analysis as well as for data summary and presentation. Excellent writing skills are also required with a good track-record of publications or high level publication within an organisation.

The post is offered full-time (although part-time of a minimum 22.5 hours per week, 60% FTE, on a pro rata basis, would be considered) and is funded until 31 March 2013. You will be based at the Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford.
