SNV Balkans is looking for an inspiring, dedicated and experienced national
professional to join the team as
Senior Agricultural Advisor for Albania
The SNV Balkans’ value proposition is based on Value Chain Development. Focus is both on vertical
and horizontal collective action in agricultural value chains with particular emphasis on strengthening
the business development services and the enabling environment for private sector activities in
agricultural value chains with the final goal to ensure increased income, production and employment
for primary producers (farmers) and small and medium scale enterprises.
The Senior Agricultural Advisor will in principle be responsible for strengthening and leading the
country sector team and overall strategy design and implementation, including inter alia:
1. strategic networking and business development;
2. strategy development for resource mobilization;
3. project evaluation activities including knowledge and learning development and
4. support of quality improvement of SNV services for agricultural development.
Required competencies:
• Academic education in fields related to agronomy, agro-economics, economy or equivalent;
Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Agric-economics, Agri-business or related field
preferred
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive working experience in agriculture in Albania, preferably in an
international environment;
• Relevant international working experience with market led agricultural development
with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in managing large and complex
development projects, preferably related to agriculture.
• Commitment to improvement of socio-economic, political and cultural well-being of the
Albanian people;
• Good communication and coaching skills;
• Strong ability to inspire and lead;
• Strong entrepreneurial orientation;
• Advanced knowledge of value chain development approaches and EU policies and standards in
agriculture sector;
• Good experience in networking with potential donors and strategic partners;
• Results-oriented and accountable for impact
• Excellent knowledge of English both written and spoken;
