Barrick is headquartered in Toronto, Canada and has 26 mining operations with many advanced exploration projects located across five continents and a large number of tenements located on some of the most prolific and prospective mineral trends. Seven of Barrick's mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia

Excellent on-site accommodation is provided at each of our sites which include Darlot, Lawlers, Granny Smith and Plutonic Gold Mines. Recreational facilities include internet café, Foxtel, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, gymnasium and sports oval. Telstra mobile, and wireless broadband access available.

We are looking for Apprentice Electricians for our Auto, Processing Maintenance and Fixed Plant and Mobile Plant teams across all sites in Western Australia.
Under the supervision of an experienced licensed electrician, your duties and responsibilities may include:
  • Learn how to diagnose faults, inspect and test electrical systems and components and determine repair action required
  • Learn how to perform and record preventative maintenance measures on electrical equipment following Plutonic procedures
  • Learn how to repair/replace electrical components and equipment to minimise downtime of plant
  • Routinely inspect and test electrical equipment and components to ensure compliance with statutory and duty of care requirements
  • Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Greasing equipment as required
  • Assist Underground Operators and carry out other duties as directed by Electrician or Electrical and Services Supervisor
To succeed, you will have excellent customer service focus and the ability to work as part of a busy team. High level interpersonal and communication skills will also be key in performing in these important roles.

Education & experience:
  • Year 12 pass in Mathematics, Physics, English and Science
  • Minimum 18 years of age (Statutory requirement for underground work)
  • High level understanding of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations will be highly regarded
  • Current “A” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence
  • St Johns Senior First Aid certificate desirable
