Regional Hydro-Geochemical Engineer United States-Utah-Salt Lake City

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities include:
The successful candidate will provide expertise and assistance regarding all aspects of hydrology and geochemistry in the strategy, development and implementation of major/significant permitting efforts for Barrick North America operations. The incumbent will also interface and work as required with operational and closure sites to assist them relative to their needs. The incumbent will interface as necessary with public and governmental agencies on permitting and regulatory matters in the North American region.

Duties include but not limited to the following:
• Assist the region’s facilities in permitting strategy, development and implementation of baseline and technical geochemical and hydrological information to support permitting applications and provide direction and expertise throughout the permitting process.
• Provide leadership, act as a mentor and assist with the facilitation of the development and effectiveness of the company’s environmental programs and policies as they relate to geochemistry and hydrology.
• Ensure that the geochemical and hydrological aspects of environmental permitting for all assigned projects are moved forward expeditiously and responsibly.
• Provide direction and expertise as necessary in the timely permitting of projects resulting in permits in the best interest of Barrick.
• Develop and maintain a clear and open line of communication with environmental personnel at mine sites regarding geochemical and hydrological issues and actions.
• Assist operation and closure sites as required providing appropriate technical expertise.
• Provide expertise to management to provide awareness of pending or future geochemical and hydrologic issues that may impact the permitting process and the organization.

SELECTION CRITERIA

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a hydro-geochemical, hydrology, or similar science discipline required
• Minimum of 10 years experience in geochemistry and hydrology work required. Experience with NEPA and permitting in Nevada is preferred
• Experience in hydrologic and geochemical modeling software and programs required
• Demonstrated successful professional environmental work with regulatory agencies required
• Must have a confident, professional demeanor and presence to effectively command attention and respect from a diverse audience, both internally and externally required
• Must have the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously required
