General Introduction: The incumbent will assume principal leadership of the Cholera Program funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The incumbent will participate in the design, filed implementation, technical support, evaluation, data analysis, results supporting and publication of findings from epidemiology and vaccine studies supported by the IVI and/or its collaborating institutions. Also collaborate with other IVI scientists and staff where appropriate in order to benefit the mission and goals of the IVI. Other duties will include assistance in expanding clinical epidemiologic research activities as they relate to IVI supported research.

Specific Responsibilities: The duties of the position will include: •The incumbent will provide planning, leadership, coordination and implementation of projects assigned by the Deputy Director General for Translational Research. Specifically he/ she will provide leadership and day-to-day management of the projects to be conducted in selected countries under Cholera Program. •The incumbent will provide supervision and management of cholera program budget and cholera team staff, and provide administrative directions in accordance with grant. •The incumbent will also assist local principal investigators in data collection, data analysis, report writing, and publications from the IVI and other partners and widely cited peer-reviewed journals, and it is expected that the incumbent will serve as a lead or co-lead author on at least some of these publications. •The incumbent will support and coordinate technical cooperation during the conduct of epidemiologic studies supported by IVI and institutional collaborating scientists. Such support will include appropriate training and education of collaborating scientists and/or support staff. The incumbent will also assist in the planning and implementation of programs intended to establish and strengthen research capabilities in developing countries, particularly those located in Asia andAfrica. •Whenever possible and as required by the Deputy Director General for Translational Research, the incumbent will also develop other research projects (including all phases of investigation) and budgets for epidemiologic studies of priority disease of the Institute. •Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Director General for Translational Research, and/or Director General of IVI.

Qualifications: •M.D.; Ph.D equivalent degree •Vaccine relevant fields experience required and at least 7 year experience in public health or medical research is highly desirable. •Experience in clinical and epidemiological studies •Good command of English
