This work is critical in establishing platforms for further anatomical analyses for C4 gene identification to contribute in the improvements in rice in collaboration with the international institutes within the C4 Rice Consortium.

Major accountabilities/Responsibilities
• Assist in the high throughout screening of the rice activation-tagged lined or transgenic lines for C4-like traits
• Assist in the establishment of the molecular parameters that are indicative of alterations in the photosynthetic pathway of mutants and transgenic rice lines
• Assist in the organization and synthesis of experimental results of the screening of activation-tagged rice and mutants for publication in scientific journals and to be made available to the members of the C4 Rice Consortium
• Perform other related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Team Leader

Qualification requirements
• BS in Molecular Biology, Plant Physiology or Biochemistry
• At least 2 years experience in standard molecular and biochemistry techniques related to screening and phenotypic evaluation
• Experience with DNA, RNA or protein extraction and analysis is essential. Microscopy techniques, experience in physiological, biochemical and histological techniques would be an advantage but not essential as training will be provided
