Senior Accountant

MSH is seeking a Senior Accountant interested in contractual work, with 100% travel to one or possibly more MSH Field Offices. During this engagement the Senior Accountant will be responsible for the following:

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Meet and strategize with Accounting team and project management team in Cambridge (Headquarters)to understand the background of this consultancy;

  2. Connect with the MSH Field Office Accounting team to understand the status of travel and other advances to partner organizations by the local project.

  3. Review documentation gathered at the MSH Field Office to reconcile the cash given to MSH’s partner organizations, such as: o MSH Regional bank statements o Agreements with the partner organizations o Performance and expense reports from the partner organizations

  4. Understand expectations from the project on how to reconcile cash statements with the MSH Field Office Accounting team.

  5. Set priorities to reconcile cash statements and document expenses with Headquarters and the Field Office, such as what organizations, timeline, threshhold, etc.

  6. Meet with high priority partner organizations in surrounding regions of the main MSH Field Office, conduct review of the project related expenses, document project results as appropriate, collect financial documentation to enable reconciliation of accounts. Frequently report findings and progress to MSH headquarters and to the field office team.

  7. Main consultancy outcome will be a report listing appropriately documented expenses from each partner organizations and cash reconciled from each regional bank account.

  8. Provide recommendations for process improvement.

Qualifications:

  1. Accounting degree and experience with USG funded projects helpful.

  2. Advanced ability working with spreadsheets and word processing; MS-Excel and MS-Word preferred.

  3. Flexibility to travel for extended period of time.

  4. Familiarity with US government contracting rules and regulations preferred.

  5. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and cultural awareness.

  6. Ability to write clearly and concisely.

  7. Firm understanding and sense of the importance of paying attention to detail.

  8. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

  9. Fluent English and French is required.
