The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB or the Bank) has a great opportunity for a Director, Economics Department who will provide, innovative and visionary leadership and effective management of the Bank’s Economics Department.

CDB is a regional multilateral development bank which is committed to the harmonious economic growth and development of its member countries in the Caribbean and to promoting economic cooperation and integration among them, having special and urgent regard to the needs of its less-developed members. CDB is the premier vehicle for development financing in the Region.

The Role

The Director, Economics, will report to the Vice-President (Operations), and will function as the Bank’s chief representative and principal spokesperson on economic and social policy matters with shareholder governments, development partners and regional/international organisations. He/she will also provide intellectual leadership and guidance on all aspects of socio-economic development in the BMCs, with emphasis on the sustainable reduction of poverty.

The Candidate

  1. Eligible candidates should have an advanced degree, preferably a PhD, in Economics, Public Finance, Public Policy or related field.
  2. Candidates should have significant experience in the development and application of economic strategy and policy in regional and/or international organisations, including field experience on issues relevant to the post. At least eight years experience at a management level with responsibility for managing, and mentoring economists and other social scientists.
  3. The successful candidate must be willing to live and work in Barbados.
