Finance officer, Income Christian Aid

Christian Aid’s work is only possible because of the financial support we receive from a wide variety of sources. By helping to ensure that this income is properly recorded and controlled, you will be helping to maximise our resources to lift individuals and communities around the world out of poverty.

The Income Unit ensures that all income is promptly and accurately recorded so that it can be appropriately spent. You will be a key part of that process. You will work closely with supporter care staff to ensure that income, especially from regular giving sources, is correctly posted to the accounting systems and reconciled. You will process and audit Gift Aid claims on a monthly basis to ensure that accurate claims are submitted regularly. You will maintain the flexibility necessary to assist other members of the unit in processing income from additional sources (including income in foreign currencies), reporting on house-to-house income from Christian Aid Week and carrying out other financial processes. And you will do all this promptly, accurately and efficiently.

Proven skills in financial management or accounting are essential for this role. And ideally you’ll be working towards an accountancy qualification. Whatever your background you’ll have plenty of experience in bank reconciliation and reporting work, and preferably knowledge of the Gift Aid scheme. You’ll also need to have a good knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping, strong IT skills, particularly in Excel, and ideally some experience of SUN systems.

More than half the world lives in poverty. We aim to put a stop to that. So we campaign against the inequalities that keep people poor and we work with local organisations to give people strength to find their own solutions to the problems they face, irrespective of their religion. If you’re as determined as we are to end poverty and injustice across the world, work with us to make change happen.
