Risk & Policy Analysts Positions

We are currently seeking employees at all levels of experience: Researcher (Ref: RPA53), Consultant (Ref: RPA54), Senior Consultant (Ref: RPA55) and Principal Consultant (Ref: RPA56)
Risk & Policy Analysts (RPA) is an independent consultancy at the forefront of work in the field of chemicals risk management. At the policy level, we provide advice to the European Commission, for example on the impacts of changes in the scope of REACH, but also to national governments and industry associations. We also lead a framework contract with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) to provide consultancy support across a range of topic areas; we are supported on this contract by key players in the chemicals field, as well as consultancies providing specialist support: RIVM, DHI, TNO Triskelion, Ökopol, Milieu, and Tecnalia.

Our services to industry (associations, consortia and individual companies) are tailored at assisting organisations to meet their obligations under the REACH Regulation. In particular, we are specialists in the field of socio-economic analysis and are advising a range of clients on how to respond to the requirements for Authorisation of the continued use of substances of very high concern (SVHC) and are supporting the preparation of socio-economic information to feed into consultations on Restriction proposals.

We are seeking to employ up to five individuals (with a right to work in the UK) who have the desire and ability to assist in such work across our client base. You will be involved in a wide range of studies - most of which will involve assessing the socio-economic impacts of possible changes to current EU policies and/or legislation.

The work requires people who are not only methodical and analytical but also flexible and prepared to tackle unfamiliar subjects with enthusiasm. At the Researcher and Consultant levels you will be expected to carry out literature reviews, analyse data (including use of spread-sheets) and prepare written materials; an ability to write in English to a high standard are essential. At the level of Consultant and above, you will also be expected to undertake consultation work across a range of industry organisations and with national authorities. You must have good organisations skills and must be able to prepare written materials to a high standard. Proficiency in another European language would be advantageous.

Our minimum requirements are relevant degrees at graduate and, preferably, post-graduate level. Ideally individuals would have a degree in one of the following (or similar) areas:

• Industrial economics
• Environmental economics / health economics
• Chemistry
• Environmental chemistry
• Environmental technology
• Toxicology / ecotoxicology
• Life-cycle impact assessment
