Training Manager: Safety Capability

PURPOSE:

A vacancy exists within the Business and Technical Development Department for a Training Manager: Safety Capability.

The purpose of the role is to assist the VP Technical & Safety Training in the development of training programmes and manage the implementation of the suite of safety training and development programmes to build capabilities in safety management and support implementation of the new global Safety Standards and safety transformation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Recognised Tertiary/Professional qualifications in training and assessment or related (e.g. Adult Learning) at AQF/ NQF level 5

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in design and/or delivery of safety related training programmes in areas of Hazard & Risk Management and Safety Leadership
  • Track record of successful competency based safety training programme implementation in a global business
  • Proven capability of successful project management for large global training programmes

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:

  • Work closely with the VP Technical & Safety training to manage the development and implementation of a suite of world class safety training programmes for AGA wide implementation
  • Prepare project plans and budgets as required by project, including change management and communication strategies and plans
  • Prepare contractual agreements with training providers
  • Schedule and coordinate delivery of programmes with providers to meet needs of AGA Business Units/Regions
  • Design and manage programmes that build external and internal training provider capacity to ensure successful and sustainable implementation of safety training programmes across AGA
  • Monitor and manage costs including ensuring participating Business Units/Regions are invoiced on a ‘user pays' basis for the training activities the role is involved with
  • Monitor and review quality of training provision and develop corrective action plans where required
  • Develop systems and processes that ultimately lead to the handover of programme management and implementation to Regions over time
  • Prepare post programme summary reports

VP: Technical & Safety Training

REMUNERATION:

A market-related package commensurate with the experience and track record of the candidate is offered.

OTHER:

  • Valid driver's licence and own transport;
  • Valid passport; and
  • Must be willing to travel both locally and internationally.
