Senior Manager Capital Optimisation

PURPOSE:

A vacancy exists within the Business and Technical Development Department for a Senior Manager Capital Optimisation.

The purpose of the role is to provide leadership to the capital optimisation group and review robustness of all capital applications for Excom/Board approval as well as conducting analysis, raise issues and develop recommendations regarding capital allocation and project portfolio pipeline.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Tertiary qualification in a technical discipline, with a strong analytical/ financial ability.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• 10 years technical and management experience in the process and mining industry with a proven track record.
• Expertise in value engineering and optimisation techniques such as clean sheet capital redesign and value stream modelling.
• Highly developed written and oral skills.
• Have a mindset for continuous improvement
• Computer literate

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:

• Act as custodian of the Capital review processes and other optimisation methodologies and capabilities within AngloGold Ashanti.
• Ensure compliance with AngloGold Ashanti project optimisation methodologies.
• Provide a comprehensive and rigorous analytical review of all AngloGold Ashanti's capital portfolio for the purpose of optimising the capital allocation.
• Provide assurance in the accuracy of capital project data and financials.
• Accountable for identifying optimisation opportunities within the capital portfolio.
• Partake in independent stage gate reviews on all major projects, ensuring the integrity of input data and correct logic in the valuation methodology.

• Ability to influence - must be aware of critical internal and external stakeholders to optimise the Capital portfolio.
• Business Acumen - must be able to understand how businesses operate and what impacts their bottom-line performance as well as the key drivers in the mining industry.
• Understanding of project environment in capital intensive industries
• Strategic view over key capital deliverables from a business and technical perspective
• Ability to remain objective & independent in a collaborative manner.

REMUNERATION:

A market-related package commensurate with the experience and track record of the candidate is offered.

OTHER:

• Valid driver's licence and own transport;
• Valid passport; and
• Must be willing to travel both locally and internationally.
