ROLE:
To further develop the agricultural activities on 30 acres surrounding the Malaika Kids Children's Village, Mkuranga, Coast Region. Aim: 1. to make the Village (currently 50, but planned to rise to 300 persons) self sufficient in fruit and vegetables. Aim 2: To make the village self sufficient in protein by commencing the farming of chickens, goats and fish etc. Aim 3: To develop commercial crops of high value to sell. Aim 4: To teach the kids and give them practical experience of modern farming methods.
STRUCTURE AND SUPPORT:
You will be under the general supervision of the Village Manager, who takes his direction from Najma Manji, the ceo Malaika Kids Tanzania. Strategy, direction and investment is applied by the Anglo-Dutch Self Sufficiency Interest Group, chaired by Nigel Fawkes, (Chairman of Malaika Kids UK). There is already considerable research available and a master plan to carry forwards. One part time gardener is currently employed. Other labour may be made available as required. Village van available for business use.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
This is a novel and challenging role capable of development by the right candidate. You will be a mature person with a formal qualification in Agriculture from an approved Agricultural College. You will have a minimum of 2 years post qualification practical experience. You will be energetic, hands on and keen to take initiative. You will have a good standard of written and spoken English. Starting Salary for this position will base on qualifications.
