ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, REFUGEE COUNCIL USA


In direct cooperation with the Director of RCUSA to fully manage all projects and duties for the purpose of increasing RCUSA’s advocacy on behalf of refugees and other displaced person.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As assigned by the Director, the duties of the Associate Director –will include:

(1) Research, respond to, and address daily member inquiries about committee work

(2) Coordinate on-going research, analysis, and efforts of current policy issues as needed

(3) Develop work plan, supervise, and oversee the work of one to two interns per academic semester

(4) Represent RCUSA in the Director, RCUSA’s absence

(5) Manage, coordinate, and follow through with all communications of the Resettlement Committee(s)

(6) Attend and fully engage in other RCUSA meetings, and follow up on decisions and actions

(7) Coordinate the drafting and member endorsement of joint letters and statements

(8) Help coordinate public events, hearings, conferences, and delegations

(9) Manage website and email accounts

(10) Prepare needed documents for meetings, briefings and conference calls

(11) Maintain weekly and monthly calendars and proper communication about events

(12) Respond to public inquiries

(13) Perform other job related duties as assigned by the Director, RCUSA


Qualifications


Qualifications:

(1) Strong commitment to RCUSA’s mission, goals, and objectives

(2) Preferred experience working in the refugee and forced migration field

(3) Ability to work with a diverse coalition in a flexible and professional manner

(4) Proven ability to be self-motivated, juggling multiple tasks, and in a timely manner

(5) Proven ability to take initiatives and work independently, yet coordinate closely with supervisor

(6) Excellent verbal and written communication skills

(7) Advocacy experience with Congress, UN, and/or U.S. Administration

(8) Experience working in a non-profit organization

(9) Proven administrative management skills

(10) B.A. required in relevant field of study
