Director of Policy The Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Director of Policy. As the suitable candidate you will:
  • Be a member of the Executive Management team led by the Institute's Chief Executive, who, with the Institute's governing Council, are responsible for developing and implementing the Institute's strategy.
  • Lead and drive developments in the Institute's policy in relation to governance, management of risk and internal auditing in order to ensure that the Institute continues to be recognised as the voice of the profession.
  • Track the latest research, evaluations and best practice nationally and internationally to provide high quality recommendations for the improvement of governance, risk management and internal audit performance in the UK and to influence government policy.
  • Represent the Institute at the highest levels as one of its policy spokespeople.
  • Work with the Chief Executive and other directors to establish the strategy for the Institute's relationships with other IIA bodies around the world and coordinate the implementation of that strategy.
Who we're looking for
  • As Director of Policy you will ideally have a public policy & public affairs background and have worked in another membership body or central government department.
  • In depth knowledge and experience of policy development ideally with a public affairs slant.
  • Working with senior executives, non-executive board members, regulators and other stakeholders.
  • Experience of leading and managing research and analysis projects.
  • Broad-based view of issues, events and activities and a perception of their long-term impact or wider implications.
  • Understanding of government framework and requirements that are set out by regulation, guidance and policy documentation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of corporate governance, risk management and internal auditing, including new legislative and regulatory developments is desirable.
The Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is the only professional body focused exclusively on internal auditing. They have led the profession of internal auditing for over 60 years and were granted their Royal Charter in 2010.
