Economist (Donor Relations), Institute for Capacity Development

The Global Partnerships Division of the IMF's Institute for Capacity Development (ICD) is seeking an Economist (donor relations) (Contractual) in IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C. As part of its strategy to strengthen its partnerships with development partners, the IMF is opening new regional technical assistance centers and establishing topical trust funds. The Global Partnerships Division's role is to establish and maintain close relationships with donors, coordinate fundraising for capacity development, and work with other divisions and departments to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Fund Technical Assistance (TA) to member countries.
The IMF's Institute for Capacity Development is overseeing the Fund's Capacity Development Strategy. The new department integrates the former IMF Institute and the Office of Technical Assistance Management.
The economist will manage several donor relations and subaccounts, participate in the preparation and negotiation of new TA agreements with donors, monitor their implementation in close coordination with TA departments, and report to donors on the execution of agreements and use of their funds. He/she will assist in other projects, such as formulating and implementing Fund-wide TA-policies and guidelines, and contribute to the dissemination of information on the Fund's TA activities.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:
  • An advanced degree in economics
  • Extensive experience in fundraising and TA project management. Work experience with a donor agency and results based management would be highly desirable.
  • Excellent communications, diplomatic, and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to be effective as part of a team.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting, statistics, finance, with extensive experience in business reporting.
  • Fluency and strong drafting skills in English. Additional languages would be a plus.
The employment will be on a contractual basis, initially for one year, extendable up to 4 years.
