Information Clerk

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has a vacancy based in Vienna, Austria, for an Information Clerk in its Information Center, who provides optimum library services to staff of the OPEC Secretariat and OPEC Member Countries.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Registers physically & electronically all incoming mails including journals and process them as appropriate
  • Distributes all journals received electronically by email on a daily basis
  • Maintains loan records, including issuance of publications as well as periodic recall of books, pamphlets and journals
  • Assists staff, delegates, and authorized visitors with queries and usage of the library equipment
  • Records journals returned from circulation; displays and shelves them as appropriate
  • Assists Information Assistant with journal collection maintenance, including updating of all manual records of periodical holdings, handling archive storage and selecting journals for binding, shelving, and discarding
  • Shelves journals, books and pamphlets returned from loans
  • Obtains through Inter-library loans within and outside Austria literature not held in the OPEC Information Center

Requirements:

  • Secondary School certificate plus special courses
  • Two years of work experience (with a minimum of one year in a library)
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English

Skills and Knowledge:

  • MS Office
  • Typing
  • Copyright Law (data protection)

Offer:

Commensurate remuneration package (i.e. monthly basic salary of € 2.421 x 12 per year) with tax-free benefits and six weeks annual leave.
