The project consists of open pit and underground mines, concentrator and supporting infrastructure to produce high-grade copper and gold concentrates.

The Oyu Tolgoi underground operations will comprise of block cave mines to exploit the Hugo Dummett deposit. The underground exploration development was commenced in 2006, with approximately 11 km of drives completed to date. Intensive underground development, construction activities and the sinking of major shafts to approximately 1,300m depth will be undertaken over the next four years. Production from the first lift of the Hugo North block-cave mine is scheduled to commence in 2016.

Reporting to the Manager Technical Services, theSuperintendent Survey - Underground will be responsible for oversight of the contractor's survey and drafting teams on site to support the underground development of the Hugo North Lift 1 blockcave.

Working as an integral member of a large Technical Services team, this leadership role will manage the survey requirements to support the mine development, underground construction, underground drilling and associated activities. Responsibilities include developing and implementing modern survey systems and practices to aid implementation of the highly intensive and complex mining project.

Degree qualification in Mine Survey or related field and experience in underground mine surveying, particularly in large scale underground development will be a definite asset. Previous experience in management of technical teams and proficiency with mine planning, CAD and survey software is desired.
