This is an exciting time for ActionAid’s International Fundraising Team, as we work towards an ambitious target of tripling high value income over the next five years. With significant investment secured to diversify our fundraising approaches globally, this will be the first time ActionAid has proactively fundraised regionally and cross borders. Therefore, we are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who is experienced in major gift fundraiser to enable us to increase our income and expand our impact in the Asia region.
As a senior specialist and with support of the International Fundraising Team, the International Major Partnership Manager is responsible for setting up a brand new high value fundraising hub to generate significant gifts for ActionAid’s work. With frequent travel between the commercial centres of the Asia Pacific region, this role will access and develop substantial income opportunities from major donors, companies and trusts and foundations from across Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia.
On a professional level, you are required to have a qualification up to degree level. You will be an enthusiastic self-starter who is independent, self-motivated and target driven. We require specialist expertise in securing major gifts/grants (including at a six and seven figure level) from high net-worth individuals, companies and trusts/foundations. You will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills (fluency in English) with a proven ability to develop rapport with donors and articulate persuasively a strong case for support. You will have excellent relationship building skills, including the ability to persuade, motivate, network and negotiate effectively.
The ideal candidate must have the ability to think and plan strategically, particularly in developing major gift strategies. This will be supported with experience of managing a portfolio of the highest level donors and prospects in order to solicit substantial gifts and secure long term support. This role asks for an individual with an entrepreneurial and enthusiastic approach to start-up major gift teams, cross-functional working and problem solving, exceptional interpersonal skills and a high level of influencing and negotiation skills and experience. Your capacity building experience including training, facilitating and mentoring will be a great advantage to you in this role.
On a personal level, this individual must have a strong commitment to develop, promote and practice ActionAid’s vision, mission, values and strategy. Willingness to travel regularly and at short notice across the region, together with a commitment to work out of normal hours when required is necessary.
