ITC helps firms in developing countries integrate into the global economy through Aid for Trade. The goal of this job function is to assist in the mainstreaming of green economy, climate change and environment issues into Aid for Trade programmes in ITC. The Environmental Mainstreaming post sits within The Trade and Environment Programme (TEP) which provides both in-house expertise on climate and environment issues and delivers Green Economy Aid for Trade programming. 

ITC’s Trade and Environment Programme build capacity of small and medium enterprises and trade support institutions in green economy segments of selected sectors including agrofood, non-wood forest products, textiles, cotton and leather. ITC also provides capacity building at the trade support institution (TSI) and trade policy levels. This post will work with sector programmes as well as at TSI levels in the integration of climate change and environmental issues into Aid for Trade and trade policy.

The TEP provides developing countries with capacity building services in market access to green economy markets, strengthening market linkages and providing trade intelligence of a practical nature for exporters. The Programme provides market analysis of green export market opportunities, strengthening climate resilience and green development paths.

The TEP is currently working in East Africa, SE Asia and Latin America providing Aid for Trade in the agro-food, natural products, wildlife trade (with CITES) as well as mainstreaming climate change mitigation and adaptation issues into projects. The overall impact of these projects is to raise incomes of producers whilst improving the sustainability of trade.
