Expert in Demographic Analysis - Planning Sector/SCPD

Background

The State of Kuwait in coordination with UNDP strives to enhance institutional capacities at various Government agencies, and under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development In this context, the Planning Sector intends (PS) to recruit an international expert to assist in the analyis of demographic issues relevant to the functions of PS in drafting the annual plans and other development documents.
Objectives of the consultancy:
  • Review all relevant studies on demographic issues as inputs to planning functions.
  • Analyse significance of demographic data as inputs to plans.
  • Report to international and regional organizations about the dempgraphic issues in Kuwait.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing all relevant studies and reports on the field of the consultancy.
  • Analyse reliability of demographic data vis-à-vis the Census 2011 raw data and akin official data sources.
  • Sort out the valid data as  inputs to the PS functions.
  • Coordinate with CSB in preparng final tables of dempgraphic data.
  • Report on best practices for demoraphic data dessimination.
  • Ensure international standards of analysis as per Kuwait’s obligations of relevant international agreements. 
Expected Outputs:
    • Evaluation report on the status quo of competencies at the relevant department of the beneificiary in respect to the required consultancy.
    • A report with executive recommendations accompanied with executable action program to enhance the work of the beneficiary in accordance with the output of the evaluation report.
    • Monthly progress report approved by the beneficiary to be submitted to PS.
    • Final report should include recommendatios for future actions.

        Required Skills and Experience

        Education:
        • PH.D in Demographic studies.
        Experience:
        • Significant experience (over ten years) in the required field of expertise.
        Language Requirements:
        • Arabic and English.
        Note:
        Duration of Assignment: One year.
