Do you have excellent statistical skills coupled with the ability to extract insightful stories from complex structured and unstructured data sets? Can you deal with a large, complex organisation that is exploring ways to increase the impact of data on its business and on the environment in which it regulates? If so, the GMC can offer you the opportunity to draw the most from your talent and expertise in the new post of  Research Statistician and Data Manager.
In this new and exciting role, you will assume a senior position within our Insight and Intelligence team. You will play a central part in providing insightful statistical analysis that allows us to extract genuine value from large quantities of information. Alongside this, we will look to you to help drive forward the GMC data strategy by reviewing how we use data across our organisation.
A role as exceptional as this one demands an individual of the highest calibre. That’s why, along with a relevant academic qualification (ideally at Master’s level), you will need excellent statistical skills and a demonstrable track record of using them in a fast-moving professional environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders. We are looking for you to prove yourself as a data scientist – someone who can combine different classes of data and apply creative thinkingto it in order to tell new stories in the wide variety of policy areas in which we have an interest . To that end, the way you interact with others will be important too. You will need to be a clear, confident and enthusiastic communicator, comfortable working with, and inspiring, colleagues at all levels. Finally, as you will be overseeing the work of two data analysts, you will also need some management experience.
