Overview and Mission

The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is an alliance of over 200 national diabetes associations with two million members in more than 160 countries and territories. For over 50 years, IDF has been at the vanguard of global diabetes advocacy. The Federation is committed to raising global awareness of diabetes, promoting the exchange of information about the different types of diabetes; give education support for people with diabetes and their healthcare providers, and encouraging activities towards finding a cure for the different types of diabetes.
The IDF Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme gives young university graduates and young qualified professionals the opportunity to obtain training and exposure to IDFs work in the field of diabetes and non-communicable diseases (NCDs). All JPO posts are based at the Federation’s Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.
The JPO will work in the IDF Policy and Programmes Department, and report to the IDF Biostatistician.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the development of evidence the burden and epidemiology of diabetes and other non-communicable disease;
  • Collect and analyse study data on diabetes prevalence for the IDF Diabetes Atlas project;
  • Providing statistical analyses and interpreting results from IDF Diabetes Atlas;
  • Provide support to the office on evidence of diabetes burden, care, and issues arising in diabetes public health;
  • Conducting meta-analyses on the effectiveness of diabetes/non communicable diseases prevention and treatment;
  • Supporting drafting of health policy and research papers and presentations.
