The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer. QGC is establishing one of Australia’s largest capital infrastructure projects to turn our world-class reserves of coal seam gas into liquefied natural gas (LNG). Queensland Curtis LNG, a priority project for QGC, involves expanding our exploration and development in southern and central Queensland and transporting gas via a 380km buried pipeline to Curtis Island near Gladstone, where it will be liquefied. QGC operates the gas-fired Condamine Power Station, the world’s first combined-cycle power station to run entirely on coal seam gas.
Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Production Technologists and Lead Production Technologists to provide production technology and reservoir engineering support to the QGC, Upstream, Development and Reserves and liaise with the group functions based in the UK, which support BG Group's CBM activities worldwide.
 
The position is part of a small multi-disciplinary team that provides production technology support and strategic technical leadership for CBM projects in the QGC asset and contributing to the body of knowledge of CBM by regular consultation with the CBM Group withing BG Advance.
Core Accountabilities
  • Delivers the CSG production enhancement projects in the QGC assets.
  • Ensures best practices are delivered through execution of diagnostics and operational guidelines.
  • Liaise with GIS and Land Access group to assre updated maps on past, current and planned activities are developed.
Specific Accountabilities - Production Technologist
  • Plans PT/PE workflows and technical approaches within projects as well as thorough reporting on projects.
  • Prepare and distribute documentation as required, both internally, to QGC and other joint venture parties, state authorities, etc. (MS Excel, MS Word).
  • Prepare, update and regularly distribute schedules and workflows relating to production enhancement activities. (MS Schedule, MS Visio, MS PowerPoint).
  • Maintains technical databases, date storage and archiving on and off server in accordance with BG data management protocols (e.g. well stimulation data/reports, gelolgical logs, maps, well diagrams etc.) (MS Acces, MS Excel).
  • Support for technical presentations (MS PowerPoint).
Specific Accountabilities - Lead Production Technologist
  • Provides appropriate workflows and technical approach as well as thorough reporting on projects.
  • Oversees the maintenance of technical databases, date storage and archiving on and off server in accordance with BG data management protocols (e.g. well stimulation data/reports, gelolgical logs, maps, well diagrams etc.) (MS Acces, MS Excel).
  • Manages schedules and workflows relating to production enhancement activities. (MS Schedule, MS Visio, MS PowerPoint).
  • Develop technical presentations.

  • The incumbent must adhere to the anual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Technical experience required:
  • Expert in at least two of the key PT discipline areas such as Well Stimulation, Artificial Lift Methods or Production Chemistry (for the Lead Production Technologist only).
Industry and work experience required:
  • Industry experience in CSG reservoirs in production and reservoir engineering capacity with preference to CSG frontier basins and opportunities.
  • Experience in operating reservoir simulation models and understanding and operating hydraulic fracture models for CBM reservoirs.
  • Undertaken assignments and projects in different reservoirs, regions and countries, with exposure to: Well planning, field developments and JV or NOJV co-ordination (for Lead Production Technologist only).
Knowledge, Languages, Skills and Attributes required:
  • Degree or Post-Graduate Degree in Petroleum Engineering (or other engineering discipline with equivalent work experience acceptable).
  • Strong safety leadership skills.
  • Possess a full 'suite' of analytical capability, plus familiarity with reservoir assessment tools, in order to be able to identify and fiagnose CBM / CSG well performance issues on areas of study.
  • Able to use various analytical tools to perform inflow-outflow artificial lift concepts for QGC developments.
  • Knowledge and experience in sumulation projects and confidence to evaluate a service company proposal for the use of lower cost or more efficient fluids, procedures and evaluation tools.
  • A realistic understanding of 'value' in a CBM / CSG context and the limitations of reservoir simulation and developing reserves.
  • Strongly motivated to always look for ways to reduce cost and improve performance, including expertise on conducting cost studies and performing cash flow economics.
  • Able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally to other disciplines, management and external bodies.
  • Sufficient CBM / CSG geologya and operations familiarity to work productively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.  Familiar with / understanding of reasons behind past CBM / CSG successes involving steady improvement in well performance.
