The role

We are currently seeking a talented Projects and Contracts Manager to work closely with our Urban and Social Development Group (U&SDG) in the SMEC International Pty Ltd, Brisbane Office, Australia.
With a minimum of 5 years commercial experience in project management in relevant discipline (e.g. urban development, governance, urban infrastructure or environment), you will play a key role in
  • Leading, coordinating and managing project activity and relationships in U&SDG targeted geographies and business sectors throughout the world
  • Manage and coordinate project activity, including management of human resources, time, cost, risk and quality parameters
  • Perform monthly review of the projects to ensure adequate project records
  • Ensure Project Plans are up-to-date and prepare contract variations/amendments as required
  • Manage project audit requirements as per SMEC BMS
  • Work alongside the CEO to achieve agreed revenue targets and strike rates on new work won, including (i) gathering market intelligence; (ii) preparing EOIs and proposals (technical and financial components); and (iii) negotiating successful contracts
  • Provide support in drafting agreements and contracts with relevant parties
  • Where possible undertake consultancy activity on behalf of SMEC International Pty Ltd- U&SDG Group in technical sphere
  • Develop close relationships with BCC, SMEC and other external organisations, including bilateral and multilateral donors (i.e. AusAID, NZAID, DFID) and international finance organisations (i.e. ADB, World Bank)
  • Work positively and cohesively with other members of the U&SDG team
  • Strictly adhere to SMEC's Business Management System (BMS), Quality Management Systems (QMS) and OH&S procedures.
With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.
Suitable applicants will have/be:
  • SMEC International Pty Ltd- Brisbane Office, Australia
  • Appropriate degree in engineering, planning or development studies
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary environment
  • Ability to write effectively in English to furnish reports and to prepare business development materials including proposals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and use of appropriate software applications including Microsoft Office packages
  • Project Management and hands-on experience, encompassing administrative, commercial and technical aspects, in delivering within project based budgets and timelines.
  • Courteous and business orientated manner when communicating with stakeholders to foster and promote good working relations
  • Co-operative and flexible work style to work in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge
  • Ability to apply new knowledge
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Proficiency in SMEC Project Planner and BMS will be preferred
  • Able to undertake travel (domestic and international).
