Role Description:
The control room centre operator is responsible for the effective application of CCTV, X-ray and electronic access and monitoring systems to reduce theft, identify procedural and process violations and health and safety issues.  This application involves monitoring, detecting and analysing anomalies and incident conditions in risk areas within Anglo Platinum, particularly in the processing division.  Operators engage in observation, visual analysis, trend and pattern analysis, and visual investigations during this implementation.  They are also responsible for the communication of dynamics and effective guidance of Protection Services responses under incident or emergency conditions.  The role reports to the Control Room Centre Supervisor.
Technical work responsibilities:
•  Expert in surveillance and observation skills. Non-verbal behaviour analysis
•  Expert in X-ray screening. Crises communication and emergency handling
•  Camera patrolling techniques. Camera handling and viewing requirements
•  Tracking information on access and movement
•  Alarm handling (Panic/fire-, other). Best practice in control rooms
•  Work process procedures. Evidence gathering and handling
•  Policies and procedures for security systems. Legal application of CCTV/audio application
•  Administration systems for security. Investigative support function
•  Training of junior operational staff. Safety and risk control
•  Surveillance . Supervision. Information/intelligence management
•  Application of security and communication technology
•  Voluntary principles for security and human rights
Core work outputs:
•  Effective monitoring and profiling of areas and suspects, and observation of and responding to criminal, health and safety and non-procedural events.
•  Effective provision of protection services for Business Unit

•  Support Protection Services management team
Key Responsibilities:
•  System Utilisation, Monitoring
•  Evaluate actions in risk areas and potential threats with reference to departmental best practice requirements and mine regulations.
•  Interpret movement and behaviour of personnel within high risk areas for signs of suspicious or irregular behaviour.
•  Monitor adherence to procedure and standards and notify management of deviations.
•  Identify potential surveillance targets based on assessments of behaviour, presence and movement
•  Initiate remote visual investigation and evidence gathering when an incident has occurred within the designated area of responsibility.
•  Verify identity of personnel in risk areas and ensure that only approved staff are in area.
•  Conduct in-depth surveillance on designated individuals.
•  Provide instruments to profile characteristics, behaviour and movement of suspects.
•  Analyse information in order to establish anomalies and patterns of behaviour and identify instances of incident behaviour or follow up needs.
•  React to and review alarms in high risk areas, and note trends in alarm activation.
•  Control and administer operator consoles
•  Operate electronic access, camera and alarm systems to designated standards.
•  Evaluate seriousness of emergency and incident conditions and initiate procedural or emergency actions including contact with relevant personnel.
•  Recommend changes to procedures and practices to facilitate security measures and client ease of use.
•  Evaluate possible steps for the improvement of security measures including lighting, camera positioning and procedures.
•  Effective administration of control room responsibilities
•  Complete incident reports and follow up.
•  Testify on evidence in hearings.
•  Train/coach section personnel in operations, standards and procedures.
•  Briefing of replacement on commencement of shift change.
Required Abilities:
•  Grade 12
•  Four years experience in role or similar role normally in Police Force/ SANDF/ Correctional services
•  Registered with PSIRA Grade B
•  One to two years experience in Security / Police environment
•  Understanding of CCTV surveillance or crime prevention function will be an advantageous
•  Knowledge of production layout, production process, and work activities
•  Literate in English. Code 08/10 driver license
•  Computer literate for role. No criminal record
•  Certificate of Fitness. No visual defects (e.g. colour blindness, etc.)
•  Observation skills. Basic understanding of camera technology
•  Computer literacy. Communication Skills
