Solutions Architect

Main Purpose:  To design, implement and continually improve technology systems through innovation drawn upon their depth of technical and business impact knowledge. The job involves ensuring that projects progress according to time lines and delivering solutions within given time periods. This role will be a Subject Matter Expert within the technical community and will be expected to architect solution by mapping business requirements to reusable end-to-end technology solutions.

Responsibilities/Output:
Duties and responsibilities include: Key in decision making process for the implementation of new technology systems Responsible for crafting winning, deliverable solutions according to business requirements Work with systems administrators and senior management to lead implementation of solutions both software and hardware With overall solution in mind, the Solutions Architect will research, evaluate, and select technology and infrastructure products, analyze functionality and features, investigate compatibility with the existing environment and recommend final selections Assess and evaluate new emerging technology and products and works with management and systems administrators to ensure products adheres to established standards and strategic vision Lead project teams and administrators and work with business units to generate effective and beneficial solutions Provide technical leadership on projects and on day to day operational and administrative functions Will oversee the existing systems environment from a technical perspective through ongoing administration and continually improving operation Perform or assist with any ad-hoc projects and requests as received from management

Competencies / Skills:
A combination of the following qualifications is desirable: Bachelors Degree or similar MCTS / MCITP or similar Microsoft certification VCP or similar VMware Certification Project+ / PRINCE2 / PMBOK or similar Project Management certification Min 10 years IT experience, of which at least 4 years in a position relevant to the role advertised As Subject Matter Expert, must understand business requirements and give suggestions on how to address challenges Advanced analysis skills and experience in solution design across multiple technologies and platforms Deep technical and architectural knowledge on the following Microsoft Products: Microsoft Windows, Client and Server Microsoft System Center products SQL, IIS and Microsoft Clustering Active Directory Forefront Identity Manager SharePoint Deep technical and architectural knowledge on the following: VMware Virtualisation and related technologies Dell and Cisco server technology EMC SAN technologies Backup Exec and Veeam Backup and Replication or similar Must have good people skills and possess ability for strategic and critical thinking Solve complex problems with effective decision making Ability to lead and motivate technical communities Effective report writing and ability to gather relevant information to supplement reports and statistical documentation. Ability to handle high pressure situations
