Cambridge Systematics, Inc. (CS), an internationally recognized leader in providing transportation planning and technology solutions, is in the process of establishing a Private Limited Company in India and we expect to open a new office in New Delhi, India in the next four months.

We are seeking a qualified candidate to serve as our Director in New Delhi to help execute our strategy for building our business and servicing our clients in this market.

Responsibilities: Working closely with corporate senior management in the U.S., this person will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Business Plan for India and achieving the targets set out in this plan. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Operations Management – Day-to-day management of the office and profit/loss responsibility; recruiting, training, and supervising local employees; promoting CS values and enforcing CS policies; the development and implementation of the annual business plan and budget; providing status reports for senior management; and collaborating with Corporate Service Groups (Accounting, Marketing, Contracts, Production, Human Resources, Information Technology).
  • Business Development – Developing and executing the business development strategy for our operations in India; building a pipeline of projects to support future growth and profitability; maintaining regular contact with targeted clients and teaming partners; developing proposals; negotiating contracts; and attending and presenting at conferences to raise the profile of the local entity.
  • Project Management and Delivery – Delivering all projects on time, within budget; compliance with other contract terms and requirements; managing select projects and/or contributing to technical work; and overseeing the quality assurance program on all active projects.
Qualifications: Ideal candidate will have a Master’s or Ph.D. in related field; a minimum of eight years professional services management experience in transport sector services (financial management, staff management, and leading project teams); team builder with demonstrated leadership qualities; established track record of identifying and selling project work; experience negotiating contracts; ability and willingness to work collaboratively with CS’ Corporate Services Groups in the U.S.; extensive network of local clients and teaming partners in the transport sector; consulting experience and intellectual leadership in one or more of the following areas, experience working in at least three of these areas:

  • Urban transport planning;
  • Road safety;
  • Public transit and rail;
  • Transportation corridor studies;
  • Financing of transport infrastructure;
  • Freight transportation; and
  • Environmental issues relevant to the transport sector.
Individual must have an understanding of the procurement processes and procedures of: International Financial Institutions operating in India (World Bank, Asian Development Bank, DFID, GIZ, JICA, UNDP) and Indian Government ministries, organizations, and institutions. Individual must possess excellent writing and presentation skills; fluent in written and oral English and Hindi.
