Department

Technology Operations is part of the Technology Division within the BBC Operations Group. It provides support for studios and broadcast infrastructure, support for digital production systems and systems management, as well as support for PC and Mac desktops across domestic and international offices. Technology Operations also provides operational switching and monitoring of media, business continuity support, broadcast duty management and a range of operational support services.

Role

Reporting to the Manager for Systems & Infrastructure, you'll be responsible for the management and support of systems assigned to you. This includes systems architecture, systems management & performance and the quality of supporting service and maintenance. You'll lead and manage a team of Technical Specialists who are the acknowledged experts for systems assigned to them and provide expertise to other teams alongside ‘looking after’ all aspects of the system. In effect the team are the custodians of the systems assigned to them. The Systems Owner is accountable for overall performance of the systems and works with other key stakeholders, i.e. Heads Of Technology, Senior Operational stakeholders to ensure that systems are maintained, performant and reliable.

Requirements

As the System Owner for Desktop and Servers (IT infrastructure Manager), you will manage a team of IT specialists, you will have exceptional leadership and problem solving abilities. You will have extensive IT experience working in a live TV, Radio or multi-media environment You will have excellent communications skills and interpersonal skills, and an organised approach and the ability to translate technical issues to a non-technical audience. You'll have experience of providing a high quality service in a demanding customer service environment along with proven technical expertise in the following areas, Windows Desktop and Server operating environments, including Windows 2008 and Win7 OS. Extensive experience with Active Directory. A proven track record working with remote access solutions and a good working knowledge of Information Security.
