Programme Development Director ,UK


POWER International is a small but dynamic development organisation driven to provide real and lasting change to the lives of people with disabilities. We focus specifically across three strategic themes of human rights as they relate to people with disabilities, education for children with disabilities, and economic empowerment of women and men with disabilities through livelihoods, employment and access to micro finance. We work through local partners and play a vital role in building their capacity. This is challenging but important work that calls for innovation, dynamism and strong leadership to make a difference.
The role.
You will be a central part of a senior management team focused on developing, delivering and growing Power’s organisational strategy and programmes across our key themes of work. You will work with our partners and our team to design, resource and implement in-country and regional programmes. You will use your strong leadership and management talents to harness and direct a knowledgeable team and our partners.
We are looking for
A strong, innovative and strategic programme manager with proven ability to influence and deliver quality programmes. You will have a strong understanding of issues of equality, diversity, and civil society in an international development context. You will have the confidence and gravitas to influence and work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders including partners and donors. You will have a strong track record in brokering funds, resources and partnerships and in delivering innovative and quality programmes that make significant impact. Knowledge of the disability sector is a considerable advantage as is experience in our key sectors of work – particularly micro finance, education and human rights. Fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of other languages including Portuguese an advantage.
