The Foundation is seeking a highly motivated Project Manager to support its Trust Media team on the running of journalism and media training programmes, as well as major media development projects.
The Foundation believes that by improving the standards of journalism, we contribute to more transparent societies. Drawing on the expertise of Reuters, the international news agency, and its values of independence, integrity and freedom from bias, the Foundation has been delivering top of its class journalism and media training for 20 years. Over 10,000 journalists have been trained in countries as diverse as Armenia, Chile, Guatemala, Senegal, Ghana or China.
TrustMedia also responds to new, emerging issues and changing situations to implement media development projects in the regions where they are most needed. These include, most recently, Aswat Masriya, an independent news website launched in Egypt in 2012 which has become “the” source of reference on the political process in Egypt.
Responsibilities The ideal candidate would organise and manage journalism and media training courses around the world. In particular she/he will:
• Write media development proposals for a variety of funders and partners as well as design training course descriptions according to client requirements
• Identify new grant opportunities as well as managing relationship with existing clients and potential clients
• Look after all course related administration including organising logistics, processing invoices and liaising with stakeholders.
• Manage project budgets and produce financial reports as needed.
• Identify, assess and manage risks to ensure the success of each project.
The ideal candidate
• We are looking for a self-starter, someone with a high level of independence and initiative, self-motivated, with the ability to design their own agenda and take responsibility to advance and complete projects
• Ideally, you will have experience in an online, media and/or publishing environment and have strong planning and organisational skills. A good understanding of the media development sector would be a plus
• Someone educated to degree level, preferably with a Masters qualification, you will have at least 5-7 years of working experience.
• You are interested in the world of international development in which the Foundation operates and may have had experience working or travelling abroad
• You can work quickly under pressure, juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadline requirements and drive projects to completion
• Proven track-record of having worked within project teams within complex business environments
• Excellent written, presentation and communication skills in English. We run courses in more than seven languages worldwide so other languages would be a plus.
This position would be based in London. The salary is negotiable according to qualifications. Deadline for applications: 12 March 2013.
