Value Analysis Engineering Leader
Our client is a manufacturer of residential vinyl and aluminum windows and patio doors. The company’s product line addresses new construction, replacement, and remodeling needs, and includes specialty products for unique environments such as noise suppression and high wind or hurricane-debris impact exposure.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Value Analysis Engineering Leader will lead initiatives to optimize product costs and improve quality in a multi-division/plant environment. This position reports to the Vice President – Materials and Logistics Management.
Specific responsibilities include:
· Develop and lead a company-wide value engineering strategy to identify price and productivity cost reduction opportunities
· Lead efforts to standardize product components across the company footprint
· Interface with engineering and plant manufacturing to gather requirements, ensuring solutions fit business objectives and needs
· Lead interactions between suppliers and engineering personnel in a standardization initiative to drive total cost productivity through clear, concise, and common specifications
· Drive productivity by working closely with division champions on standardization of common items and elimination of waste in the raw materials supply chain
· Assist the sourcing effort to develop kits and other drop-in packages, improving the company’s cost and quality position
· Monitor and evaluate new or unused technologies relevant to company operations that can increase productivity
· Conduct business dealings with the highest level of integrity and regard for legal and environmental issues
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- 5 to 7 years in an engineering or procurement function, in a manufacturing setting
- Experience in and knowledge of manufacturing operations
- Experience in sourcing, negotiating, or contracting for complex direct materials
- Experience with PPAP, MSP, Gauge R&R, Lean Manufacturing, and other quality tools
- Project management experience
Desired:
- Experience with sourcing or detailed knowledge of PVC, hardware, and fastener supplier marketplace and capabilities
- Experience sourcing plastics and plastic parts in a multi-division/plant environment
SKILLS:
- Strong negotiations skills
- Ability to lead teams and foster cross-functional/divisional collaboration
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills – able to interact effectively from the plant floor to the executive level

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – mechanical preferred; civil or chemical acceptable

TRAVEL: Occasional travel to plants will be required
