Description:
We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-orientated professional for the position of Corporate Communications Assistant in the Corporate Communications Department.

The position will be based at CIMMYT’s main campus (located 45 km northeast of Mexico City, Mexico) but will interact with CIMMYT staff and offices worldwide.


Specific responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Provide general and finance administrative support to the Corporate Communications Department (includes managing correspondence, preparing meetings and taking notes, project documentation and reporting, tracking payments and monitoring charges to the department’s budget, managing databases, filing expense reports and claims, purchase requisitions, etc.)
  • Oversee the inventory and distribution of publications.
  • Manage monthly financial reports.
  • Help with logistics for Corporate Communications meetings, staff travel, and visitors.
  • Assist in communications with CIMMYT staff and external stakeholders.
  • Provide secretarial support as required.
  • Provide support and advice for the Director of Corporate Communications in calendar commitments and routine matters.
  • Perform any other tasks and assignments as directed by supervisor.

We are seeking candidates with the following qualification, skills and attitudes:
Essential

  • BA/BS in Administration, Finance, Communications or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a corporate environment, and 2 years of experience in an area related to finance or administration.
  • Excellent written / oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced level of English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and advanced internet skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and a customer service orientation.
  • Effective teamwork and a strong cultural sensitivity.
  • High level of responsibility, confidentiality and discretion.
  • Ability to work with different nationalities, under pressure and as a member of diverse work team.

Desirable

  • ERP experience and knowledge of Project Management Software (MS Project, PMP or similar).
  • Knowledge of an additional language (such as Spanish).
  • Familiarity with natural or social sciences research environment, or business Research & Development function will be an advantage.
