EMERGENCIES AND CRISES INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMME MANAGER (ASIA)
Location: Asia Hub Office preferred, applications from other Asia Members/Country Programmes where AAI has a presence will be considered

The purpose of the role is to coordinate and lead ActionAid’s preparedness and emergency response work in the Asia region. The Emergencies and Crises International Programme Manager will play a critical role in the region giving strategic direction and technical advice to countries’ preparedness and response plans, and leading responses when required. . The role provides technical support to fundraising initiatives and supports the building of ActionAid’s profile on emergencies by engaging with external actors.
 
Desired Skills & Experience
On a professional level, you must have a relevant post-graduate degree coupled with at least 7 years’ extensive field and management experience in insecure environments, including emergencies and conflict situations. You will also have at least 5 years’ direct experience of managing across multi-country boundaries with an agenda to deliver across several countries, which will require a familiarity, aptitude and comfort with cross-cultural working and experience of coordinating a diverse group of stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Humanitarian Issues and Environments, a Human Rights Based Approach in emergencies as well as DRR, CCA and other resilience building processes. This role requires a clear understanding of Humanitarian Donor perspectives and requirements. You must have the ability to design emergency programmes quickly and efficiently as well as experience of successful intervention and influencing at an international level. The ability to initiate, design and implement relevant capacity building training and workshops at member/country programme as well as international level is essential.
On a personal level, you will have demonstrably strong leadership, influencing and persuading skills, being able to achieve results through others where there is no direct line management relationship. You must be able to make quick assessments and decisions under pressure and with competing priorities, being able to adjust and adapt quickly to all types of situations. It is essential that you have strong people management skills, including a practical and proven aptitude for team and organisational development through your ability to create, articulate and implement a vision and solutions for effective team working.
