Quality Engineer Costa Mesa, California
Yoh has a contract opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join our client in Costa Mesa, CA.
Job Overview:
The Temporary Senior Quality Engineer audits, analyzes, and measures performance, defines and assesses the level of quality, as well as takes actions to improve quality, on-time delivery, and cost performance through development activities. The Senior Quality Engineer completes these assignments with minimal supervision. Performs review of customer/industry/internal specifications to ensure processes meet / exceed requirements. Provide technical support to operations, customers, and suppliers as needed. Provides customer and supplier requirements training to employees as necessary. Manages supplier quality. These activities will be provided for the Costa Mesa ES &C product lines. Travels as required. This job will be located in Costa Mesa, California and will report to the Quality Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
- Interprets the requirements of ISO and/or AS quality systems.
- Performs as a lead auditor for on-site quality system audits to assess compliance to ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100 quality system requirements.
- Assembles, evaluates, and analyzes quality data to determine the performance level of suppliers.
- Compiles pareto charts using historical defect data and conducts on-site and/or internal supplier development and continuous improvement activities to assist suppliers in establishing complete cause and corrective actions.
- Uses quality system methodologies and improvement techniques that include:
- Root Cause and Corrective Action Analysis / Implementation.
- DPPM calculations.
- Manages and facilitates problem solving and root cause analysis activities when required to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances, both internal to Client and at suppliers.
- Identifies and implements improvement for cost-savings / reductions in support of the Eaton Cost-Out initiative.
- Performs with highly effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for communications internally, to suppliers, and to customers.
- Performs effective speaking and presentation skills.
- Operates and manages the following Quality Assurance systems:
- Corrective Action System (WISPER)
- Material Review and disposition system
- Audit Schedule
- Travels domestically and internationally (could be up to 40% of the time).
- Additional requirements: sitting, standing, and walking.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Three (3) years experience in a manufacturing/technical position.
- Knowledge of and proficient in computer applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must be prequalified to work on defense projects, per the state department ITAR regulations.
- This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Preferred Job Skills/Certifications/Knowledge:
- Aerospace auditing experience.
- Certified Lead Auditor (preferred) for the ISO 9001:2000 and/or AS9100 standards.
- Knowledge of machining methodologies, special processes, and aerospace assembly and test experience.
- AS9100 internal auditing experience.
