Job Title: USAID|DELIVER Project Intern
Location: Rosslyn, VA
Posting Date: 04/03/2013
Deadline Date: Open until the position is filled.
Starting Date: 07/17/2013
Description:
The USAID | DELIVER PROJECT is a worldwide program managed by John Snow, Inc. and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). DELIVER strengthens the supply chains of health and family planning programs in developing countries to ensure the availability of critical health products to customers. Task Order 7 (TO7) focuses on procurement and delivery of malaria commodities to 23 countries in Africa and SE Asia and is funded by the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI).

Every quarter, since the beginning of the project, TO7 has compiled country stock levels as well as expected shipments of malaria pharmaceuticals and testkits from both the project and other donor organizations into a comprehensive database to produce quarterly Procurement Planning and Monitoring Reports for malaria (PPMRm). The PPMRm is used to address stockout situations in a number of countries through the provision of critical emergency shipments, and to highlight potential supply problems before they happen.

To date, data providers have no access to the data online, and there is no way for them to see trends over time. In the current database, there is limited automation for data entry. The number of products and number of countries reporting has consistently been expanding, significantly increasing the workload for managing the data and running PPMRm reports.

In an effort to address the above challenges, the project has allocated funding to convert the old database and report into a more comprehensive web-based format that will allow for improved data visibility and ease of use for donors, recipient countries and project staff.

The data-management intern will be based in the Rosslyn office, and will assist the team in updating the new PPMRm with historical data from the existing database, and testing the new PPMRm to ensure proper functioning.
