Christian Aid is working with others to end poverty in the Middle East. At the heart of this vision is the transformation of the lives of people living in poverty, empowering them to have a brighter future. We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated person for the position of Emergency Programme Manager to manage and develop Christian Aid’s humanitarian response to the Syria Crisis.
You will take responsibility for the development, management, and coordination of Christian Aid’s response strategy to the Syria crisis. Christian Aid is currently responding through local partners in Iraq and Lebanon and through a sister agency in Syria.
A strategic thinker, you will be familiar with managing humanitarian response programmes in highly complex and dynamic contexts. You will have a proven track record of delivering high impact and effective emergency projects and programmes in compliance with humanitarian minimum standards.
The candidate must have a degree or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline, with considerable knowledge of emergency relief and recovery in complex contexts, preferably in the Middle East, with in depth knowledge of development and emergency issues in the region and Syria in particular. Must have extensive experience of strategic planning and management of large and complex budgets, as well as a working knowledge of internationally recognised humanitarian standards, such as HAP, Sphere and the Red Cross Code.
We value the contribution each person makes to the success of our organisation. That’s why you can expect a wide range of rewards and benefits, including a generous holiday allowance, an interest-free season ticket loan, and flexibility that will ensure you enjoy a good work/life balance
