Director of the knowledge & Membership Services Department

The International Association of Public Transport (UITP) is a global network with 3,400 members from some 92 countries, including public transport authorities and operators, policy decision-makers, scientific institutes and the public transport supply and service industry. Headquartered in Brussels, UTP also has 11 regional offices.
We are currently looking for a Director Knowledge and Membership Services Department
The Knowledge and Membership Services Department (KMS) manages the development of public transport global knowledge, operates and supports UITP membership working bodies and develops global knowledge-related services.
Main responsibilities:
1. Monitor global trends and development of public transport market and urban mobility
2. Contribute to the definition, implementation and follow-up of the integrated work programme:
• Lead the management of modal, sectoral and thematic membership working bodies of the Association
• Manage the development of knowledge-related membership services
• Coordinate the support to knowledge-related activities of regional departments/offices, EU research projects and advocacy actions
• Support the definition and management of the World Congress & Exhibition
3. Supervise the Information Center and Mobi+
4. Represent the department at the Boards (internal: Management Board) and external (Policy and Executive boards, PresCom)
5. Support membership development in Europe
6. Manage and supervise the department: elaborate the budget, generate and follow the Business Plan, manage human resources
7. Represent UITP at international events upon request of the Secretary General
Profile:
• University degree (economist, engineer, urban planner)
• Minimum of 15 years of experience of which 10 years in public transport and urban mobility issues
• Good knowledge of public transport organisation and actors
• Working experience in an international context
• Excellent managerial skills, real team leader
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
• Problem-solving attitude
• Fluency in English. Knowledge of French, German or Spanish is an asset
• Computer literate
• Willing to travel
The position is based in Brussels - The working contract is full time and should start early 2014.
