The Diamonds and Minerals (D&M) Product Group comprises a number of business units – Rio Tinto Diamonds (RTD), Rio Tinto Minerals (RTM), Dampier Salt (DSL) and Rio Tinto Iron & Titanium (RTIT).

 

The opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an Industry Analyst within the D&M Strategy & Industry Analysis team. You will be primarily responsible for leading and ensuring detailed industry analysis and research into the key fundamentals of the global diamonds, high-purity Iron, lithium and potash sectors.

 

What the role entails:

 

Reporting to the Business Development Manager - Diamonds & Minerals you will be responsible for: 

• Defining and leading the delivery of the D&M strategy and industry analysis team’s research agenda in the sectors outlined above
• Ensuring high quality communication such that the impacts of sector developments are reported back to the respective D&M businesses and the implications for Rio Tinto are communicated to the relevant stakeholders
• Collecting information from all publicly available sources, including specialized services and consultants, while respecting local operating practices and procedures
• Representing D&M in company-wide research initiatives into diamonds, high-purity iron, lithium and potash matters
• Ensuring the feedback of data and research findings from these initiatives into Rio Tinto’s wider research and analysis agenda
• Maintain and enhance leading indicator and innovative demand, supply and cost models, and using the outputs to assess the implication for D&M in the sectors of interest as well identifying mitigating strategy recommendations
• Establishing, and engaging key stakeholders in the implementation and application of systems and models to deliver stepwise improvement in the collation and analysis of data and to improve the effectiveness and reliability of metrics, reporting and recommendations.
