The opportunity
 
We are looking for Mechanical Maintainers, based at our coal operation, Clermont, to carry out planned and breakdown maintenance, root cause diagnostic work and process driven fault finding on Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME), including Cummins engines in multiple HME types, LeTorneau 1850 Loaders, Hitachi Excavators and Caterpillar fleet.

What the role entails
 
These positions are a great opportunity for a self-starter individual with good fault finding skills. Residentially based in Clermont (7 days on and 7 days off roster) and reporting to the Maintenance Superintendents, you will be:
  • Working as part of the maintenance team to achieve machine availability targets
  • Carrying out preventative and breakdown maintenance work, including mechanical fitting on excavators, trucks, loaders, dozers, graders and ancillary gear
  • Striving for high quality maintenance outcomes through industry best practice
  • Adhering to the Rio Tinto Safety standards and work practices                         
What you will need for this role
 
To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, you will have:
  • A Mechanical (Diesel Fitting) trade qualification
  • Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience (Hitachi EX3600, 5500 and 5600, Cummins engines 60 and 78 series, Komatsu Trucks 830/930, LeTorneau 1850 Loaders, Caterpillar dozers/graders and ancillary)
  • OEM apprenticeship or work background
  • A strong safety orientation and the ability to work collaborate as part of a team
  • A proven commitment to high standards of work and a focus on continuous improvement
An Overhead Crane, Forklift and Elevated Work Platform licence will be desirable. A good understanding of reliability centred maintenance, root cause diagnostics, parts ordering and recording maintenance history will be highly regarded.
