The People 4 Earth Foundation consists of a young international team dedicated to contributing to sustainable development.

People 4 Earth is a young and innovative organization, dedicated to making food supply chains sustainable and more transparent. To this purpose we built AgriPlace – an online cooperative platform for collecting, sharing and benchmarking data on sustainability practices, provided by and serving supply chain actors, governmental agencies and standard setting organizations. Farmers, producer organizations, local NGOs, processors, etc. fill in assessments and share their results with business partners. Thus AgriPlace provides new insights, leading to improved sustainability practices and transparency in global supply chains. And together with farmers, farmer organizations and other partners we develop AgriPlace as a cooperative open source platform that is community owned and community driven.

We are expanding our core team as we roll out AgriPlace and start a number of pilots next year. Therefore, we are looking for a

sustainability * product development * project management * data management *  food supply chains *  procurement *  functional IT management * databases * content analysis

You are an independent and creative thinker and you know how to bring about positive change. Your main focus is to further define the system architecture and tools available on AgriPlace, bringing the platform to the next level of implementation. You translate business requirements into technical specifications based on farmers reality and supply chain dynamics and needs. Pragmatic and hands-on you bring solutions to challenges. You thrive in an innovative start-up organization, growing along with it.

Responsibilities

• Cooperate with business development to translate business requirements into technical specifications;
• Define the system architecture together with the team and the IT specialists;
• Provide methodological guidelines regarding the general integration of the different tools in one over-arching system;
• Design new features and tools;
• Research of standards and tools.

Requirements

• Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, self-managing & decision making skills;
• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience;
• Experience in working with data;
• Degree in a relevant area, e.g. Information Architecture, Data Management, Environmental Sciences, Agriculture;
• Affinity with IT systems and data management;
• Fluent in English (must) and Dutch (preferred);

Bonus points for:

• Knowledge of voluntary standards and sustainability issues in agricultural supply chains;
• Previous involvement in IT product development.
