TFO Canada is currently recruiting for a new full-time Project Manager position located in Ottawa and responsible for TFO Canada’s Canadian Market Trade Information Services. The successful candidate will be involved in the execution of a five-year Canadian Market Access and Capacity Building program that TFO Canada will be implementing beginning in early 2014. With the support of a full-time Researcher/Writer and a part-time Trade Information Systems Specialist, the Project Manager will be responsible for all of the Canadian market trade information services delivered by TFO Canada for the benefit of developing country exporters and trade support institutions, and for Canadian importers who source products and services from developing countries.
These services include a comprehensive web-based trade information service (www.tfocanada.ca) featuring over 20 in-depth trade publications on the Canadian import market. Other information services include regular e-publications and webinars for exporters and importers, presentations (for use in seminars) on the Canadian import market and TFO Canada’s services, and special research publications on opportunities in the Canadian market for specific countries or for individual product/service categories. The Project Manager will also support the design and implementation of two new training programs on exporting to Canada: one for trade representatives from developing countries posted to Canada. and the other a market familiarization tour for representatives of trade support organizations from 15 TFO Priority Countries in Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America. Content for TFO Canada’s trade information services is generated by in-house and external resources under the coordination of the Project Manager. Most of TFO Canada’s trade information services are delivered in English, French and Spanish.
Qualifications:
- At least five years of experience in transforming information to enable others to acquire practical business-oriented knowledge using web-based and other online tools including social media.
- Three to five years of experience in project management or support including planning, budgeting, execution (including procurement and contracting of external service providers), monitoring/reporting
- Three to five years of experience in trade development or promotion: export marketing, importing/sourcing and/or in providing trade development services for exporters.
- Sound understanding of the Canadian import market and sources of information
- Previous experience organizing and facilitating training workshops, seminars and webinars
- Ideally, experience in international development project management including results based reporting
- Previous experience organizing and facilitating trade shows would be an asset

- Outstanding organizational skills
- Excellent writing and editing skills (English), including report-writing
- Ability to read French and/or Spanish (both preferred)
- Hands-on experience working with a variety of presentation/training tools including on-line platforms
- Excellent computer application skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher (or equivalent) and PowerPoint, plus some experience working with database applications and online survey tools
- Familiarity with Internet-based information delivery platforms, including design considerations
- Relevant university degree, preferably at the Master’s level; a CITP designation strongly preferred
