Rio Tinto Treasury is a centralised support and service function, acting as central banker to the Group.  Treasury is responsible for the efficient financing and management of the Group's internally generated funds and its net external funding requirements.   It also manages the group’s capital structure and key financial risks.
 
The Front Office function is centralised in London and the role is of a global scope. The Front Office is responsible for all execution strategy, dealing, hedging and funding activity on a tactical level globally.
 
An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Treasury Dealer within the Front Office team. You will be primarily responsible for external dealing activities and supporting the BUs and functions on internal transactions.
 
               
What the role entails
Reporting to the Treasury Manager, Front Office, you will be responsible for: 
 
  • Managing the groups surplus cash, foreign exchange and interest rate exposure and ensuring activities are executed in an efficient and compliant manner, including confirmation, settlement and recording of all treasury transactions
  • Staying up-to-date on developments on the financial markets, monitor market developments and work together with Treasury Manager, Front Office to present/advise recommendations to the senior management
  • Day-to-day market reporting and analysis of Treasury Front Office and market
  • Lead any new/ongoing ISDA negotiation and areas of compliance (inter-company interest rates, withholdings tax schedules etc)
  • Supporting BUs on exposure / market issues including execution of internal BU FX and MM transactions
  • Developing in collaboration with Treasury Manager, Front Office and various banks/ other advisory bodies, Treasury Surplus Cash Investment, FX, Interest Rates dealing execution strategies and best practice dealing manual
  • Leading in development of Front Office Operations performance reporting
  • Providing supporting documents as requested by internal, external and SOX audit for related matters
  • Support Treasury / group wide projects in the Front Office area where required
  • Responsible for planning and implementation of Money Market Funds portal and its reporting suite.   
 
To be considered for this position it is essential that you have:
 
  • Graduate level degree and additional qualification ideally in Treasury or Corporate Finance, or professional accounting qualifications (eg MCT, or CFA, or ACA /CPA (public accounting)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in international corporate treasury
  • Sound understanding of financial and capital markets
  • Excellent understanding of front office dealing (FX and interest rates and commodities derivatives derivatives)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills showing confidence and persuasiveness in dealing with senior management/external stakeholders 
  • Strong leadership with the ability to influence other teams without direct management authority
  • Proven experience in project management
  • Sound general understanding of accounting and tax standards.
